The Penn Fishing company was founded by Otto Henze, who immigrated from Germany to work in the US at the Ocean City Reel Company in Philadelphia. His experience in this company inspired him to build a company of his own one day. His dreams turned into reality in 1932, when he resigned from his job at Ocean City Reel Co. and put up the Penn Fishing Tackle Company. Penn Fishing Tackle Company has three models of Penn baitcasing reels for serious anglers. The International Baitcast targets the big fish in the water. The Penn International reel has various models to fit your baitcasting needs. The International 965 has a two hundred and forty yard capacity. It has a gear ratio of 4:7:1. The Penn International fishing reel 975 model meanwhile has a three hundred and forty yard mono capacity and a 4:5:1 gear ratio. The 975 CSLD and 975 LD have mono capacities of three hundred yards and 4:4:1 gear ratios. Penn International fishing reels have earned an excellent reputation and is their biggest selling baitcasting reel.
Another Penn baitcasting reel is the Sargus Baitcast. This has an HT-100 drag, machined cut brass main gears, has dual casting controls that are external and adjustable. The spool is machined anodized aluminum, and six shielded steel ball bearings. The Sargus Baitcast also features infinite anti-reverse roller bearings and an ergonomic palming left side plate.
The Sargus Baitcast was made to provide anglers with smooth and accurate casting. The ball bearings are corrosion resistant and the guide line is made from titanium.
